Fitness

Our program includes a 45-minute fitness class each week. MumNet instructors are certified Fitness Instructor Specialists (FIS), through Can-Fit-Pro or other recognized accreditation. Many are also certified in other areas as well, such as personal training, pre-natal and post-natal, and pilates and yoga, just to name a few. MumNet fitness instructors bring a wealth of experience to our classes. Most of our instructors are mothers as well, and many have also been members of a group at one time or another (or still are), so they understand what it is like to be a new (or seasoned) mom.

In all of our groups, our instructors incorporate a variety of techniques into the exercise program while remaining sensitive to pre-natal and post-natal concerns, as well as any other health issues. You will be asked to fill out a medical questionnaire when you register which will help your instructor to plan safe and effective classes. Please feel free to discuss any health concerns with your instructor at the start of each class. This will enable them to show you alternatives if necessary while exercising with the group.

Here are some tips to get the most out of your fitness class each week:

Arrive early - Arrive by 9am to get your kiddos settled into the childcare room. The fitness portion of our program begins promptly at 9:15am and we don’t want you to miss out on the warm-up.

Wear comfortable clothing - Don’t worry about dressing to impress! Wear your most comfortable workout clothes, including running shoes and a good supportive bra, especially if you are nursing!

Bring a water bottle - Drinking water will prevent dehydration during sweat loss, and will help fight fatigue. It is especially important for pregnant or nursing moms. A towel is also nice to have.

Talk to your instructor - Let your fitness instructor know about any concerns or questions you have. They are there to listen and help you, and can tailor the class to meet your specific needs.

Provide feedback - Please feel free to provide feedback! Let your fitness instructor or group leaders know what you think about the MumNet fitness program.
